Arthur

I loved Arthur as a kid. And when I say "kid," I watched Arthur until I was 14, and probably still would watch it if I knew where to find it and when on T.V.

Anyway, good ol' Marc Brown, the creator of Arthur, did an episode on Asperger's Syndrome. One of my college professors even emailed me about it. I'm sure most of you have heard, but for those of you who haven't, I thought I'd link to the segment where they explain what Asperger's is. I thought they did a fabulous job!

Enjoy!

For the full episode here is part 1 and part 2 (it's about 15 minutes long). It's worth your time!

  1. Lydia, Arthur is most likely on your local PBS station in the morning. Here it's on every weekday morning at 7:30am on PBS. My daughter watches it every morning while I get ready so consequently so do I. We're big fans of Arthur. We somehow missed the Asperger's episode. I wonder when it aired? We'll have to watch it on Youtube tonight when she gets home! Thanks for the heads up.

  2. Hooray for the college professor's e-mail!

I don't remember how old I was when I discovered Arthur but I used to play Arthur's Teacher Trouble quite often on my little Macintosh.

(For those who don't know the Living Books CD-Roms, they would have a 'read' mode and a 'play' mode, where every picture would do silly things, and different things each time).

    So basically:

Loud noises. (great example of the loudspeakers which Arthur and Francine were wearing).

    Humour. (Arthur's costume)

Big interest (in George's case, the flowers and painting them).

Like being on a different planet.

(Earth 1 and Earth 2 as it might be).

Brain was one of my favourite Arthur characters.

  3. I can't figure out who would have emailed you. I know Senorita Spanish Teacher emails you about cats. Was it her or someone else?

I loved Arthur through middle school. And I say hey, HEY! what a wonderful kind of day...

  4. Leigh, thanks for making me feel normal. Seriously. And it was Dr. G.

Natalie, it must not be on weekends because I can't find it on PBS coming up. But I'll check on Monday. It used to be on PBS at 3:30. I did find Little Bear today, which made me very happy.
